Bill Murray and Bill Murray walk in to a bar. One of these Bill Murrays is Bill Murray Then and the other Bill Murray is Bill Murray Now. Both want to order a drink. It’s a tough one, but if you’re the bartender how do you decide whose drink order you take first? Which Bill Murray is more awesome than the other Bill Murray? Let’s mark the cut-off point at Rushmore.

Things to consider:
• Bill Murray Then was on SNL before it got lazy.
• Bill Murray Now is in just about every Wes Anderson movie.
• Bill Murray Then was in Groundhog Day AND Scrooged.
• Get Low looks very awesome.
• Doctor Peter Venkman.
• Bill Murray Now has range. And a kick-ass beard.
I realize I’m probably in the minority on this one but Bill Murray Now gets my vote. Bill Murray Now has to deal with living up to the awesomeness of Bill Murray Then and he totally nails it. And makes it look way easy.

Whenever I see movies like this coming out to theaters it really warms my heart. Because it’s one of those rare moments where not having a girlfriend actually pays off.

Anne Hathaway and some British dude play a couple of dummies who take twenty years to fall into stupid love. Who gives a shit.

I love the experience of going to the movies, but not that many films come out worth paying $20 and sitting through 20min of trailers for mind-numbing, new TNT dramas. So, like many of you, I end up waiting for most movies to show up on Netflix. Some movies, though, look so terrible, I will only watch them on a Sunday afternoon after I’ve taken non-drowsy cold medicine and already watched 3 episodes of MTV’s True Life. I refer to these movies as: Maybe On Cables.

From the director of Big Momma’s House and Beverly Hills Chihuahua comes another piping hot turd to sting your eyes, just in time for summer.

A bunch of tiny blue goblins live in a magical mushroom village, sing all day and speak nonsense to each other. By some faustian pact, this was once successfully pitched as a TV show, and hey, now there’s a movie too.

I spend a lot of time on this site making fun of shitty movies, but that’s not to say that every once in a while a pretty damn good one doesn’t come out. I mean, yeah, for the most part it’s all Michael Bay boners and Jennifer Aniston turds, but right now there happens to be a film in limited release that is getting stellar reviews and just so happens to star a friend of mine. It’s called Another Earth, and if it’s not playing in your area now, find another area.

Call Me Fitz
Whoah! I’d never heard of this Canadian export TV show but as I skimmed through episode 3 it looked pretty cool. Jason Priestley has returned to the small screen as a sketchy car salesman in an anti-hero type of role. This show is has a very Showtime type of vibe. I mean that as a good thing and I hope there are more seasons to come. |
